The Sacramento County Oral Health Program connects people to dental care, provides oral health education and resources for the community.
A healthy mouth, teeth and gums are essential to good overall health! Teeth are meant to last a lifetime. They help us chew food, speak clearly and smile. Healthy mouth habits prevent bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease. Keep your mouth healthy by brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste twice a day, flossing daily, eating a healthy diet and limiting added sugars, visiting the dentist regularly, and avoiding tobacco use.
The purpose of this training is to increase dental office personnel’s understanding of how best to confidently engage their patients in the conversation about the risks of sugar sweetened beverage consumption, as well as how to use anticipatory guidance and motivational interviewing strategies to help guide the patient in making healthier choices for themselves and their families.
