Historical Discrimination for a Lesbian Couple - Lessons from Military Service

Historical Discrimination for a Lesbian Couple - Lessons from Military Service

by Cristina Mendonsa June 19, 2018

Col Patsy Thompson (ret) and Barbara Brass met like many other couples.  Through mutual friends they happened to be at the same party when they saw each other from across the room.  A first date to take a run together turned into a decades long relationship but they had to keep their love secret as Patsy was still in the military when they met.

Progress has allowed Patsy and Barbara to marry and both are very active politically but their story of secretive glances, coded language and years apart speak to the toll discrimination can take on people.

As part of our educational documentary on sexual harassment, discrimination and retaliation, we interviewed Col Thompson and Barbara about their experiences with discrimination over the years.  We've included segments of the interview free of charge on our website: https://mycecourse.com/collections/latest-interviews/products/meeting-her-wife-the-need-to-hide-the-relationship

The AB1825 training tool on sexual harassment, retaliation and discrimination is available now to companies on demand on all devices.  The documentary is HRCI certified, endorsed by industry leaders and compliant with all California law on the topic including the new LGBT amendments to the current state law.

After checking out Patsy and Barbara's interview, we invite you to check out the AB1825 trailer and get your company on board with a training tool that will educate, entertain and help your business reach full compliance.
