ASIA ARGENTO ON THE “HUNTING GROUNDS”

Actress/director Asia Argento stunned the audience at the Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony by detailing her abuse at the hands of Harvey Weinstein and issuing both a rebuke and warning to those “... who still have to be held accountable for their conduct against women for behavior that does not belong in this industry, that does not belong in any industry or workplace”.  

Argento said she was just 21 when she was sexually assaulted by Weinstein at the festival.  She called Cannes his “hunting ground” and told the audience he used the festival to pressure, persuade and even sexually assault actresses.  

The audience sat silent for most of her remarks but raucous applause came when she ended.  Last Fall, Argento was one of the first women to come forward to accuse Weinstein.

Weinstein has denied all accusations against him by the Italian actress.
