JoAnna describes the two conversations that were always going on internally before her transition. She was trying to be Jack, but inside knew that JoAnna was who she really was. She also speaks of the fear of coming out to her family and the rejection she felt. JoAnna also describes losing her job, not due to gender discrimination but to age discrimination. She felt she needed to transition but felt too much pressure to stay living as a man.
